A display made by many hands
Krannert Art Museum listed its Stitching Ecologies exhibition from 16 May to 24 October 2026. That scheduled run has now finished, so this is a look back, not an invitation to an upcoming opening. The display centred on a local satellite of the wider Crochet Coral Reef project.
Art and maths in the same conversation
The museum describes contributions involving students, artists, scientists and community members. Its account connects the local project with hyperbolic crochet and questions about reef ecosystems. The larger project was created by Christine and Margaret Wertheim; the individual contributions are not patterns for us to redistribute.
A practical thought for crocheters
A shared make does not need identical skill levels to be interesting. A group can agree its purpose, size limits and joining plan, then leave space for individual choices. That is a useful planning question even for a small collection of practice squares. Our project-notebook guide helps record those decisions. The cover is an original illustration of collective making, not documentation of the museum display.
